Tahereh Mafi (born November 10, 1988) is an author from the United States. She is known for writing exciting books for young adults. Her family comes from Iran. She lives in Santa Monica, California.

About Tahereh Mafi
Tahereh Mafi was born on November 9, 1988. She grew up in a small town in Connecticut. She is the youngest of five children. She has four older brothers.
Her parents moved to the U.S. from Iran. When she was 12, her family moved to Northern California. Two years later, they moved to Orange County.
Mafi went to University High School. Later, she studied at Soka University of America. She can speak eight different languages. She even studied in Barcelona, Spain, to learn more Spanish.
Her Writing Career
Before writing her first published book, Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi wrote five other stories. She did this to practice and learn how to write a full novel.
The Shatter Me Series
Her popular book Shatter Me came out on November 15, 2011. It was the start of a series.
- Unravel Me was published on February 5, 2013.
- Ignite Me was published on February 4, 2014.
Mafi also wrote five shorter stories, called novellas, for the Shatter Me world:
- Destroy Me
- Fracture Me
- Shadow Me
- Reveal Me
- Believe Me
The movie rights for Shatter Me were bought by 20th Century Fox. This means it could become a movie!
In April 2017, Mafi announced more books in the Shatter Me series. These new books follow the same characters. The first one, Restore Me, came out on March 6, 2018. It tells the story from two different characters' points of view.
Other Books by Mafi
In August 2016, Mafi released Furthermore. This book is for middle-grade readers. It's about a girl who lives in a colorful, magical world. But she doesn't have any magic herself.
Her book A Very Large Expanse of Sea was released on October 16, 2018. This book was recognized for a big award. It was longlisted for the National Book Award for Young People's Literature.
Her Personal Life
Tahereh Mafi lives in Irvine, California. She is still writing new books there. In 2013, she married another author, Ransom Riggs.
In March 2017, Mafi shared that she was expecting a baby. Her daughter, Layla, was born on May 30, 2017. Tahereh Mafi is a Muslim.
