Becoming an Actress
Tahirah Amandla Sharif was born in Brixton, South West London, England. Her mother is from Pakistan, and her father is from Jamaica.
Tahirah first acted in a school play when she was six years old. When she was 16, she joined the Brit School for Performing Arts & Technology. This school is in Croydon, London. She later continued her acting lessons at the Identity School of Acting in London.
Her Acting Career
One of Tahirah Sharif's first acting jobs was in a short film called See Me. She played the main character.
In 2012, Tahirah appeared in every episode of the BBC show One Night. She played a character named Madison. She also appeared in the ITV show Whitechapel as Chantal Essian. That same year, Tahirah acted in two plays. She was Esther Adams in Moon on a Rainbow Shawl at The National Theatre. She also played Dunyazade in Arabian Nights at the Tricycle Theatre. Tahirah then acted in her first full-length movie, The Invisible Woman. She played Rosa, working with actors like Ralph Fiennes.
In 2013, Tahirah Sharif joined the BBC TV series Casualty. She played Ella, the teenage daughter of Martin Ashford (Patrick Robinson). Ella was known for being a bit of a troublemaker. Tahirah's first scenes aired on May 4, 2013. Her last scenes were shown over a year later, on May 17, 2014.
After Casualty, Tahirah played Esther Adams again in the play Moon on a Rainbow Shawl. This time, the play went on a tour around the UK.
In 2015, Tahirah Sharif starred in the last ten episodes of the school drama Waterloo Road. She played a student named Carrie Norton. Her character's stories included her brother, Guy Braxton, returning. She also had a relationship with Lenny Brown. In 2015, Tahirah also played Kile in a short science fiction film called Pulsar. She acted alongside Jessie Buckley and David Gyasi.
That same year, Tahirah played Katie in the play Firebird at Hampstead Theatre. The play was very popular. It later moved to a bigger theater in London called Trafalgar Studios in 2016.
In 2017, Tahirah Sharif was cast as Melissa in A Christmas Prince. This was a very popular holiday movie from Netflix. The movie was so successful that two more films were made. These were A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding (2018) and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby (2019). Both were released on Netflix.
Sharif also starred as Rebecca Jessel in the Netflix horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor. This show was released in October 2020.
