Tahoe Pines is a small, quiet place located in California, right by the beautiful Lake Tahoe. It's what we call an "unincorporated community," which means it's a neighborhood that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger Placer County.
Welcome to Tahoe Pines
Tahoe Pines sits at a high elevation of about 6,230 feet (that's 1,899 meters) above sea level. Imagine being up in the mountains! It's located just a short distance, about 1 mile (or 1.6 kilometers), north of another community called Homewood. Being right on Lake Tahoe means amazing views and access to the lake.
A Look Back: History of Tahoe Pines
This community first started way back in 1909. For many years, it even had its own post office! The Tahoe Pines post office helped people send and receive mail from 1912 until 1959.
