Tajh Boyd, born on September 25, 1990, is an American football coach. He used to be a professional quarterback. Today, he helps coach the Clemson Tigers football team. He played college football at Clemson from 2011 to 2013. He was a star player, earning All-American honors in 2012. The New York Jets picked him in the 2014 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football

Tajh went to Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia. He was a fantastic football player there. As the starting quarterback, his team won 43 games and lost only 2! They even won two state championships.

In 2009, he was named co-MVP of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns in that game. This showed everyone how talented he was.

College Football Career

After joining Clemson, Tajh didn't play in 2009. This is called a "redshirt" year. In 2010, he was the backup quarterback. He completed 33 passes for 329 yards that year.

Becoming a Starter at Clemson

Tajh became the starting quarterback in 2011. He led the Tigers to a 10–4 record. They won the ACC Championship that year. This set up a big game against West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

Even though the Tigers lost the Orange Bowl, Tajh had a great year. He completed 298 passes for 3,828 yards. He also threw 33 passing touchdowns. He ran for 218 yards and five more touchdowns. People even thought he might win the Heisman Trophy in 2012.

Star Seasons and Records

In 2012, his second year as a starter, Tajh led the Tigers to an 11–2 record. He completed 287 passes for 3,896 yards. He threw 36 touchdowns and only 13 interceptions. On November 17, 2012, he set an ACC record. He threw five touchdown passes and ran for three more in one game. He gained 529 total yards in that amazing game.

After this season, he was named the ACC Player of the Year. He was also named a first-team All-American. In the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl, he helped Clemson beat the LSU Tigers. He completed 36 passes for 346 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored a rushing touchdown and was named the game's MVP.

Senior Year Success

As a senior in 2013, the Tigers finished with an 11–2 record. Tajh completed 283 passes for 3,851 yards. He threw 34 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. On November 14, 2013, he set another ACC record. He became the all-time leader in career passing touchdowns.

In his last college game, the 2014 Orange Bowl, Clemson beat the Ohio State Buckeyes. Tajh completed 31 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 127 yards and another touchdown. His performance set an Orange Bowl record for total yards in a game.

Tajh finished his college career with many school records. He had 11,904 passing yards and 107 passing touchdowns. He is still the all-time leader in both of these categories for Clemson.

Time in the NFL

The New York Jets picked Tajh Boyd in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was the 213th player chosen overall. However, he was released by the team on August 30, 2014.

In 2015, Tajh signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was released by the team on August 18, 2015.

Playing in Other Leagues

After the Jets, Tajh played in the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL). He first signed with the Florida Blacktips in September 2014. Later that season, he played for the Boston Brawlers.

In September 2015, Tajh signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was released by them in October 2015. He then signed with the Montreal Alouettes in November 2015. He was released by the Alouettes in June 2016.

Coaching Career

On July 19, 2021, Tajh Boyd announced exciting news. He would return to Clemson as an assistant coach. He now works with the offense, helping young players.

Personal Life

Tajh Boyd is a Christian. His cousin, Darrell Roseman, also played college football. Darrell was an offensive lineman for the Auburn Tigers.

Before becoming a coach, Tajh worked in real estate.
