Tajh Khiry Boyd (born September 25, 1990) is an American college football coach and a former professional quarterback. He is currently an offensive assistant for the Clemson Tigers. A quarterback is a team leader who throws the football.
Boyd played college football for Clemson University, where he was the starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013. He was a star player, earning first-team All-American honors in 2012. This means he was recognized as one of the best college players in the country. After college, he was chosen by the New York Jets in the 2014 NFL draft.

High School Star
Boyd went to Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia. He was an amazing player on the football team. As the starting quarterback, his team won 43 games and lost only 2. During his time there, he helped his team win two state championships.
In 2009, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, a special game for the best high school players. He was named co-MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the game. He earned this award by completing 7 of his 9 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
College Career at Clemson
Boyd joined the Clemson Tigers in 2009. He was redshirted his first year, which means he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. In 2010, he was the backup quarterback to Kyle Parker. He played a little, throwing for 329 yards and four touchdowns.
First Year as a Starter
In 2011, Boyd became the starting quarterback. He had a fantastic season and led the Tigers to a 10–4 record. They won the ACC Championship and earned a spot in the Orange Bowl, a major college bowl game.
Even though Clemson lost the Orange Bowl to West Virginia, Boyd had a very successful year. He threw for 3,828 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also showed he was a great runner by gaining 218 yards and scoring five rushing touchdowns.
Record-Breaking Seasons
In 2012, Boyd continued to shine. He led the Tigers to an 11–2 record. He threw for 3,896 yards and 36 touchdowns. On November 17, 2012, he had an incredible game against NC State. He set a record for the most touchdowns in a single game in the ACC conference. He threw for five touchdowns and ran for three more, for a total of eight touchdowns in one game!
Because of his amazing performance, he was named the ACC Player of the Year. He also won the MVP award in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl after leading Clemson to a victory over the LSU Tigers.
In his final year in 2013, Boyd again led the Tigers to an 11–2 record. He threw for 3,851 yards and 34 touchdowns. In his last college game, the 2014 Orange Bowl, he led Clemson to a 40–35 win against the Ohio State Buckeyes. He threw for five touchdowns and ran for another.
Boyd finished his time at Clemson holding school records for the most passing yards (11,904) and the most passing touchdowns (107). He is still the all-time leader in both categories for the university.

After his amazing college career, Boyd was selected by the New York Jets in the 2014 NFL draft. He later played for several other professional teams. These included the Boston Brawlers in the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL).
Boyd also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. He then played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes.
Return to Clemson as a Coach
In July 2021, Boyd announced that he was returning to Clemson University. This time, he came back as a coach. He now works as an offensive assistant, helping the team's offense and teaching the players.
Personal Life
Boyd is a Christian. His family also has a history in football. His cousin, Darrell Roseman, was a player for the Auburn Tigers. Before he started coaching, Boyd worked in real estate.
