Takanori Nakajima (中島 崇典, Nakajima Takanori, born February 9, 1984) is a former Japanese football player. He was a defender, which means he played in a position to stop the other team from scoring goals.

Playing Career Highlights

Starting Out in J2 League

Takanori Nakajima was born in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, on February 9, 1984. After finishing high school, he began his professional football journey in 2002. He joined Shonan Bellmare, a team in the J2 League. The J2 League is the second-highest division of professional football in Japan.

Nakajima played many games as a left side back for Shonan Bellmare. This position is important for both defending and helping with attacks on the left side of the field.

Success with Yokohama FC

In 2004, Nakajima moved to another J2 League team, Yokohama FC. He quickly became a regular player, meaning he played in most of their games. Even though the team had some tough seasons, things changed in 2006. Yokohama FC won the J2 League championship that year! This was a huge achievement for the club.

Winning the J2 League meant Yokohama FC was promoted to the J1 League for the first time ever. The J1 League is the top professional football division in Japan. In 2007, Nakajima played many matches in the J1 League. However, Yokohama FC finished last and was moved back down to the J2 League after just one year.

Time with Avispa Fukuoka and Kashiwa Reysol

In 2008, Nakajima joined Avispa Fukuoka, another team in the J2 League. He played consistently for three seasons there. In 2010, Avispa Fukuoka also earned a promotion to the J1 League.

The next year, in 2011, Nakajima moved to Kashiwa Reysol, a J1 League club. While he was part of the team, he didn't play in many games during his time there.

Returning to Yokohama FC and Retirement

In August 2012, Nakajima made a big move back to Yokohama FC. This was his second time playing for the club. He continued to play as a left side back and was a key player until 2015.

His final season was in 2016, when he played for Gainare Tottori in the J3 League. The J3 League is the third-highest professional football division in Japan. Takanori Nakajima decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2016 season.
