Takashi Takabayashi (高林 隆, born August 2, 1931 – died December 27, 2009) was a Japanese football player. He was a forward, which means he played at the front of the team to score goals. He was a key player for the Japan national team.

Early Life and Club Career

Takashi Takabayashi was born in Saitama, Japan, on August 2, 1931. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school, he went to Rikkyo University.

After he graduated from university, Takabayashi played for a team called Tanabe Pharmaceutical. He also played for another team, Osaka SC. These were important steps in his football journey.

Playing for Japan: National Team Career

Takabayashi's talent was noticed early. In March 1954, while he was still a student at Rikkyo University, he was chosen to play for the Japan national football team. This was for the 1954 World Cup qualification matches.

His first game for Japan was on March 14, 1954, against South Korea. Later that year, in May, he played in the 1954 Asian Games. He showed his skill by scoring 2 goals in that tournament!

In 1956, he was picked for the Japanese team that went to the 1956 Summer Olympics. Although he was part of the team, he did not get to play in any matches there. He also played in the 1958 Asian Games.

Takabayashi played a total of 9 games for Japan and scored 2 goals during his time with the national team, from 1954 to 1958.

Later Life and Legacy

Takashi Takabayashi passed away on December 27, 2009, in Saitama, at the age of 78. He is remembered as a dedicated football player who represented his country on the international stage.
