Takayuki Chano (born 23 November 1976) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender and was also a member of the Japan national team.

Playing Career

Club Journey

Takayuki Chano started his professional football career in 1995. After finishing high school, he joined his local team, JEF United Ichihara. This team later became known as JEF United Chiba.

From 1998, Chano became a key player for the club. He played many games as a center back. During his time there, JEF United Ichihara had some great seasons. They finished second in the 1998 Emperor's Cup and third in the J1 League in both 2001 and 2003.

In 2005, Chano moved to another team called Júbilo Iwata. He continued to play as a strong center back, often alongside Makoto Tanaka, who was also a player for the Japan national team. After five seasons with Júbilo Iwata, he returned to JEF United Chiba in 2010. Takayuki Chano retired from playing football at the end of the 2011 season.

National Team Appearances

Takayuki Chano also played for the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on 25 April 2004, against Hungary.

In July 2004, he was chosen to represent Japan in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. This is a big football tournament for teams in Asia. Even though he did not play in any matches during the tournament, Japan won the championship!

He also played in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup. This competition brings together champion teams from different continents. Chano played a total of 7 games for Japan between 2004 and 2005.
