Takeshi Aoki (青木 剛, Aoki Takeshi, born 28 September 1982) is a Japanese football player. He was born on September 28, 1982. Takeshi Aoki played for the Japan national team. He is known for playing as a defender and midfielder.

Club Career Highlights

Takeshi Aoki started his professional football journey with Kashima Antlers in 2001. This was right after he finished high school. He quickly became an important player for the team.

He played as a defensive midfielder from his very first season. The Antlers won the J1 League championship in 2001. They also won the J.League Cup in 2002.

From 2003, Aoki became a regular player. He played in many matches for a long time. In 2007, his team, Kashima Antlers, won the J1 League again. They also won the Emperor's Cup that year. The Antlers were very strong and won the J1 League three years in a row, from 2007 to 2009.

After 2010, Aoki played less often as a starting player. However, his team continued to win. They won the Emperor's Cup in 2010. They also won the J.League Cup in 2011, 2012, and 2015. From 2012, he often played as a center back.

In July 2016, Aoki moved to Sagan Tosu. He played for this club for two seasons. In 2018, he joined J2 League club Roasso Kumamoto. In 2019, he moved to Nankatsu SC.

National Team Career

Takeshi Aoki also played for Japan's national football teams. In June 2001, he was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. In this big tournament, he played every minute of all three matches. He was a key defensive midfielder for the team.

He played his first game for the main Japan national team on August 20, 2008. This was a friendly match against Uruguay. The game took place at Sapporo Dome.
