Takuro Kubo, known as TAKURO, is a Japanese musician and songwriter. He was born on May 26, 1971, in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Takuro is famous as a guitarist and the leader of the rock band Glay. He writes most of Glay's songs and lyrics. Besides his work with Glay, Takuro has also created music for other artists and released his own solo albums.

Takuro and his older sister grew up with their single mother. His father passed away when Takuro was three years old. He says his mother's singing greatly influenced his early interest in music.

About Takuro's Life

Early Influences and Writing

When Takuro was a child, he was deeply moved by his mother's singing. He felt the strong emotions in her voice. This experience taught him about the power of music. He realized that singing can encourage and uplift people.

Later, as a teenager, Takuro was inspired by John Lennon. He became very interested in writing song lyrics. Takuro often writes about his own feelings and experiences. He also writes about important events happening in the world.

Takuro shares his thoughts on various topics. He has been asked to write articles for newspapers. For example, in 2007, he wrote about his hometown, Hakodate, for the Asahi newspaper. He also shared his personal experiences growing up in a single-parent family.

Working for a Better World

In 2001, Takuro teamed up with musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. They started an organization called "Artists Power." This group brings together musicians who want to find new ways to create energy. At a concert in Hokkaido in 2001, some of the energy used came from alternative fuels. There was even a display showing how these generators worked.

Books and Radio Shows

In 2003, Takuro released a book called "Kyoukai." This book tells his life story. It covers his childhood in Hakodate and his music career. He also wrote about a woman he cared for deeply, who inspired many of his love songs.

Takuro also hosted radio shows. He had a show called "Takuro Radio Factory." Later, he hosted "Glay Radio Communication DX" on Tokyo FM, which ended in 2005.

Family Life

Takuro married Japanese model Seri Iwahori in May 2004. They met in 2003 while he was filming a small part in the movie Casshern. Takuro and Seri have a son, born in October 2005, and a daughter, born in October 2007. They have homes in Los Angeles, California, and Tokyo.
