Tall spikerush is a plant that grows from underground stems called rhizomes. These rhizomes help the plant spread. It is a perennial herb, meaning it lives for more than two years. It often looks like a tall grass.

This plant can grow quite tall. It usually reaches a height of about 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6.5 feet). Tall spikerush produces white flowers. You can see these flowers blooming between February and October.

Tall spikerush loves wet places. You can find it growing in and around lagoons. It also thrives in swampy areas. In Western Australia, it grows in coastal parts of several regions. These include the Kimberley, South West, Great Southern, and Goldfields-Esperance areas. It prefers to grow in dark, muddy soils.
