History of Tallaboa Alta
Long ago, before Europeans arrived in the late 1400s, Tallaboa was an important village. It was led by respected chiefs, known as caciques.
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States in 1898. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the U.S. In 1899, the U.S. government counted the people living in Tallaboa Alta. There were 946 residents at that time.
