Tamara James was born on June 13, 1984. She is an American basketball player who used to play for the Washington Mystics in the WNBA. She went to the University of Miami where she studied liberal arts and theater.

Tamara was chosen by the Mystics in the first round of the 2006 WNBA draft. She was the eighth player picked overall. Tamara played professional basketball for nine years. Most of her career was spent playing overseas in Israel. In Israel, she helped her teams win two Cup Championships and one League Championship with Maccabi Bnot Ashdod. She also won championships with Elitzur Ramla in 2014. Tamara became a mom in 2011.

On November 8, 2016, Tamara James was elected Mayor of Dania Beach. This is the oldest community in Broward County, Florida.
