Tamaryn Nxumalo, whose maiden name was Green, was born on August 19, 1994. She is a South African who won the title of Miss South Africa 2018. She also represented her country in the Miss Universe 2018 contest, where she finished as the first runner-up.

Early Life and Education
Tamaryn Green was born in Worcester, Western Cape, South Africa. Her parents are David and Ellirene Green. When she was nine years old, her family moved to Paarl. Tamaryn is from the Cape Coloured community in South Africa. Her father works as a school adviser, and her mother is a teacher. Tamaryn went to New Orleans Secondary School in Paarl.
Studying Medicine
Tamaryn studied medicine at the University of Cape Town. She earned her medical degree in 2019. While she was a student, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis (a type of infection) in June 2015. She recovered from the illness by December 2015.
Journey to Miss South Africa
In April 2018, Tamaryn Green was chosen as one of the 28 people to compete in the Miss South Africa 2018 pageant. She then made it into the top twelve contestants who would appear on television.
Winning the Crown
During the final competition, Tamaryn moved into the top five. Then, she became one of the top two finalists. She was crowned Miss Universe South Africa 2018 by the previous winner, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. This meant she would represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2018. After this, she was also crowned Miss South Africa 2018. Thulisa Keyi was crowned Miss World South Africa. Tamaryn received her crown from Adè van Heerden, who was the Miss South Africa before her.
Representing South Africa at Miss Universe
As Miss South Africa 2018, Tamaryn Green went on to compete in Miss Universe 2018. During the final question round, all contestants were asked the same question. They had to share the most important lesson they had learned and how they would use it as Miss Universe. Tamaryn answered:
Throughout my life, I've been exposed to both those who are privileged and underprivileged and what I learned is we are all human. We all want to be loved, we all want to belong, and we all want to be seen so we should treat each other that way.
Personal Life
Tamaryn Green married businessman Ze Nxumalo in April 2022. Their wedding took place at the Quoin Rock Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.
