Biography

Early Life and Skiing Start

Tanner Hall, also called 'Ski Boss', was born in Kalispell, Montana. He started skiing at Whitefish Mountain Resort when he was just three years old. At age 10, he joined a freestyle ski team. He learned to ski moguls and aerials. When he was 15, he moved to Park City, Utah. There, he focused on freeskiing. His first big competition was the US Open in Vail, Colorado.

Starting a Ski Company

In 2002, Tanner Hall helped start a ski company. It was called Armada Skis. He created it with fellow skier JP Auclair and photographer Chris O'Connell. Tanner also owns part of the Retallack Snowcat Operation. This is a special skiing area near Nelson, BC, Canada. He shares ownership with skiers Seth Morrison and Mehdi Trari.

Overcoming Injuries

Tanner Hall has faced some tough injuries during his career. In March 2005, he was trying a difficult trick. He broke both of his ankles. This happened while attempting a switch cork 900 over Chad's Gap in Utah. He had to take the rest of the season off. But he came back strong in 2006. That year, he won gold at the US Freeskiing Open and the Winter X-Games.

In May 2009, Tanner had another serious injury. He overshot a jump at Stevens Pass in Washington. He hurt both of his knees, tearing ligaments and fracturing bones. He took a break from skiing for over a year. By summer 2010, he was back to training on trampolines.
