Early Settlements

People lived in the Tanti area long before 1848. Settlements existed there since the 16th century. Back then, the region was a large ranch called Merced de Quisquizacate.

In the late 1600s, a man named Juan Liendo bought these lands. He created three ranches: Santa Ana, Tanti, and Tanticuchu. These ranches were important for raising mules. The mules were then sold in Peru.
