Pauline Tanyaradzwa Adele Fear (born 1989/1990) is a talented actress and comedian from Britain. She is known for her roles in TV shows like Spotless and the popular science fiction series Doctor Who. In 2021, she decided to use her full birth name, Tanyaradzwa Fear, for her acting work. Before that, she was known as Tanya Fear.

In August 2022, Tanyaradzwa announced that she was taking a break from acting in movies and TV.

Early Life and Education

Tanyaradzwa Fear was born in London, United Kingdom. Her father is English, and her mother was born in Zimbabwe. From a young age, she used the shorter name Tanya. Her full name, Tanyaradzwa, means "we have been comforted" in the Shona language, which is her mother's native language.

While studying at King's College London, Tanyaradzwa decided to follow her dream of becoming an actress. She moved to Los Angeles for a few months in 2009 to explore acting. Later, she trained at the Identity School of Acting in London.

Acting Career Highlights

Tanyaradzwa Fear's first acting job was in a TV show pilot called The Fades in 2010. A pilot is a first episode made to see if a show will be popular. Even though her pilot wasn't shown, it helped the BBC decide to make the series.

She appeared in several TV series, including Some Girls (2013) and DCI Banks (2015). In 2018, she played Dr. Jade McIntyre in an episode of Doctor Who called "Arachnids in the UK".

During the COVID-19 pandemic in California in 2020, Tanyaradzwa wrote, directed, and acted in three short romantic comedy films. These films explored what love was like during the pandemic. In 2019, BAFTA Los Angeles recognized Tanyaradzwa Fear as one of its 25 Rising Stars. This award highlights young actors who are showing great promise in their careers.

Personal Life and Name Change

In April 2021, Tanyaradzwa Fear announced a change in her professional name. She decided to use the full spelling of her birth name, Tanyaradzwa, for her acting credits. This was inspired by another actress, Thandiwe Newton, who also chose to use the full spelling of her Zimbabwean name.

In September 2021, Tanyaradzwa was briefly reported missing by her family. Thankfully, she was found safe later that day.
