History of Taracena
Ancient Times
People have lived in the area around Taracena for a very long time. Some experts, like Adolf Schulten, believe this was once the ancient city of Caraca. This city was attacked and taken over by a Roman leader named Quintus Sertorius in the 1st century BCE.
Becoming Part of Guadalajara
Taracena used to be its own separate town. But in 1969, it became part of the bigger city of Guadalajara. Two other nearby villages, Valdenoches and Iriépal, also joined Guadalajara at the same time.
