Tarnov is a small village located in Platte County, Nebraska, in the United States. In 2010, about 46 people lived there. By 2020, the population had grown slightly to 52 people.

History of Tarnov

Tarnov was founded in 1889. Many of the first people who settled here came from a city called Tarnów in Poland. This is why they chose the name Tarnov for their new village.

A post office opened in Tarnov in 1891. It served the community for many years before closing in 1969.

During World War II, on August 19, 1943, something unusual happened. The U.S. Army accidentally dropped seven practice bombs on Tarnov. The B-17 planes were supposed to drop them on a bombing range far away. Luckily, the bombs caused very little damage, and no one was hurt.
