On December 27, 2011, Yamashita was announced as a player returning to Cerezo Osaka. He had played for them before. On February 22, 2019, Yamashita scored a goal against Vissel Kobe early in the game. This was a special moment because it was the first time in the history of the J.League (Japan's top football league) that a defender scored the very first goal of the season in the opening match.

Time at Kashiwa Reysol

Yamashita joined Kashiwa Reysol on August 11, 2019. On October 2, 2020, he scored an important goal in the J.League Cup semi-final. His goal against Yokohama F. Marinos was the winning goal that sent Kashiwa Reysol to the final. However, Kashiwa Reysol lost the final match to FC Tokyo.

Third Time with Cerezo Osaka

On January 12, 2022, Yamashita made another return to Cerezo Osaka. He played in a friendly match against the famous French club Paris Saint-Germain on July 28, 2023. He came on as a substitute in the second half.

Retirement from Football

On October 23, 2024, Tatsuya Yamashita announced that he would be retiring from professional football at the end of the 2024 season. His final game for Cerezo Osaka was on November 30, 2024.
