Tatsuya Yamashita (山下 達也, Yamashita Tatsuya, born November 7, 1987 in Hyōgo, Japan) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a centre back, which is a defensive position in football.

Yamashita spent a lot of his career playing for Cerezo Osaka. He played in over 220 games for this club, becoming a very important player for them.

Playing for Cerezo Osaka (Second Time)

Tatsuya Yamashita rejoined Cerezo Osaka on December 27, 2011. This was his second time playing for the club.

On February 22, 2019, Yamashita scored a goal against Vissel Kobe. This goal was special because it was the first goal scored by a defender in the opening match of the J.League season. This was a unique moment in the league's history.

Time with Kashiwa Reysol

On August 11, 2019, Yamashita moved to play for Kashiwa Reysol. He continued to show his skills as a defender.

On October 2, 2020, he scored a winning goal in the J.League Cup semi-final. This important goal helped his team win against Yokohama F. Marinos. However, Kashiwa Reysol later lost in the final match to FC Tokyo.

Return to Cerezo Osaka (Third Time)

Yamashita returned to Cerezo Osaka for a third time on January 12, 2022. He continued his career with the club where he had played for many years.

On July 28, 2023, he played in a friendly match against the famous French team Paris Saint-Germain. He came on as a substitute in the second half of the game.

On February 20, 2024, Yamashita was chosen to be the captain for Cerezo Osaka for the 2024 season. This was a big honor, showing his leadership skills.

Yamashita announced on October 23, 2024, that he would retire from football at the end of the 2024 season. His final game for Cerezo Osaka was on November 30, 2024. He came on in the 88th minute for Ryūya Nishio. This match was also his 150th game in the J1 League, a major achievement.
