Tatyana Romanovna Lebedeva (Russian: Татьяна Романовна Лебедева, born on July 21, 1976) is a famous Russian track and field athlete. She competes in both the long jump and triple jump events. Tatyana is known as one of the most successful athletes in these sports. She has won many gold medals at the Olympics, World Championships, and European events. Her best long jump was 7.33 meters. She also held an indoor world record in the triple jump, reaching 15.36 meters.

Tatyana Lebedeva's Amazing Career

Tatyana Lebedeva first became well-known in the triple jump in 2000. She won a gold medal at the European Indoor Championships. She also earned a silver at the Sydney Olympics that same year.

Becoming a World Champion

The next year, Tatyana became a World Champion in triple jump. She also won a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships. After winning her triple jump title again at the 2003 World Championships, she decided to try the long jump too.

Winning Gold in Two Events

This decision worked out very well for her! In 2004, she broke the indoor world record in the triple jump. This happened at the 2004 World Indoor Championships. She also won a second gold medal in the long jump there, with a jump of 15.36 meters.

At the 2004 Athens Olympics, Tatyana won her first Olympic gold medal in the long jump. She also earned a bronze medal in the triple jump competition.

Golden League Success

In 2005, Tatyana missed the World Championships because of an injury. However, she became the only winner of the IAAF Golden League jackpot. This was a special bonus of US$1 million given to athletes who won their event at six big European summer meets. That year, she focused mainly on the triple jump.

Tatyana did very well in the 2005 IAAF Golden League. She won the entire jackpot prize of US$1 million. She became a European champion for the first time in 2006. She won the triple jump at the 2006 European Athletics Championships. Tatyana won two medals at the 2007 World Championships. She took home a gold medal in the long jump and a silver medal in the triple jump.

Later Career and Olympic Challenges

Tatyana won a silver medal in the long jump at the 2009 World Championships. This was her eighth medal at a world event. However, she did not perform as well in the triple jump that year.

Later in her career, some of Tatyana's results from the 2008 and 2009 competitions were changed. This was due to issues with sports rules. For example, her silver medals from the 2008 Beijing Olympics in both long jump and triple jump were officially removed.

Tatyana Lebedeva's Family Life

In September 2002, Tatyana Lebedeva and her husband, Nikolay Matveev, welcomed their first daughter, Anastasiya. Tatyana later announced she was expecting her second child in 2010. She chose to take a break from competing in the 2011 season. Her second daughter, Aleksandra, was born in November.
