Tavernes de la Valldigna (which sounds like ta-VER-nez deh la val-DING-na) is a town in Spain. It is part of the Valencian Community. The town is located in a region called Safor, about 54 kilometers away from the big city of Valencia.

Tavernes is the largest town in a special valley known as La Valldigna. This valley looks like a horseshoe. It has mountains on its western side and the beautiful Mediterranean Sea to the east. In December 1916, King Alfonso XIII officially gave Tavernes the title of "City."

As of 2010, about 18,130 people lived in Tavernes. The current mayor is Sergi González Frasquet, who started in 2019.

Tavernes de la Valldigna is in the northeast part of the la Safor area. It is about 56 kilometers from Valencia. The town is on the eastern side of the Valldigna valley.

Mountains and Rivers

To the north of Tavernes, you'll find the Massalari valley and the Agulles mountains. These mountains have two peaks:

  • Les Creus, which is 540 meters high.
  • Massalari peak, which is 598 meters high.

To the south, there is the Mondúver peak. A river called Vaca flows through the valley.

Saint Peter's Church
