Taylor Lynn Hearn, born on August 30, 1994, is an American professional baseball player. He is a pitcher for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp team in Japan. Before playing in Japan, Taylor played for teams like the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States.

Early Baseball Years
Taylor Hearn went to Royse City High School in Royse City, Texas. After high school, the Pittsburgh Pirates picked him in the 2012 baseball draft. But Taylor decided to go to San Jacinto College to play college baseball instead.
He was drafted again in 2013 by the Cincinnati Reds, but he still didn't sign. After playing another year at San Jacinto, the Minnesota Twins drafted him in 2014. Taylor chose to transfer to Oklahoma Baptist University instead of joining a team.
Finally, after one year at Oklahoma Baptist, the Washington Nationals drafted him in 2015. This time, Taylor signed his first professional baseball contract.
Professional Baseball Career
Starting with the Nationals
Taylor Hearn began his professional career in 2015. He played for two teams that year: the GCL Nationals and the Auburn Doubledays. He had a record of 1 win and 5 losses. His earned run average (ERA) was 3.56.
In 2016, he started with the GCL Nationals again. Later that year, he moved up to the Hagerstown Suns.
Playing for the Pirates
On July 30, 2016, the Nationals traded Taylor Hearn to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He joined the Pirates along with another player, Felipe Vázquez. In return, the Nationals received Mark Melancon.
Taylor finished the 2016 season with the Pirates' Single-A team, the West Virginia Power. Across all his teams that year, he had 2 wins and 1 loss. His ERA was 2.44, and he struck out 75 batters.
In 2017, Taylor played the whole season for the Bradenton Marauders. He ended the year with 4 wins and 6 losses. His ERA was 4.12. He started 2018 with the Altoona Curve and was chosen for their All-Star team.
Time with the Texas Rangers
On July 30, 2018, Taylor Hearn was traded to the Texas Rangers. He moved with Sherten Apostel, and the Rangers sent Keone Kela to the Pirates. Taylor finished 2018 with the Rangers' Double-A team, the Frisco RoughRiders. That year, he had 4 wins and 8 losses with a 3.49 ERA.
The Rangers added him to their main roster after the season. In 2019, Taylor started with the Nashville Sounds, a Triple-A team. He had 1 win and 3 losses with a 4.05 ERA in 4 games.
Taylor made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut on April 25, 2019. He pitched for the Rangers against the Seattle Mariners. However, he got injured soon after with elbow problems. He didn't play again in 2019.

In 2023, Taylor spent most of his time with the Round Rock Express. He had a 3.66 ERA there. He played four games for the Rangers, but he struggled. On July 19, the Rangers removed him from their roster.
Short Stays with Braves and Royals
On July 24, 2023, the Rangers traded Taylor Hearn to the Atlanta Braves. He made his Braves debut on July 29, but he had a tough game. The next day, he was sent to the Gwinnett Stripers, a Triple-A team.
On July 30, 2023, the Braves traded Taylor Hearn to the Kansas City Royals. He was traded for Nicky Lopez. Taylor joined the Royals' major league team on August 8. He pitched one inning in his Royals debut, allowing no runs.
In 8 games for the Royals, his ERA was 8.22. After the season, on October 26, Taylor chose to become a free agent.
Playing in Japan
On December 3, 2023, Taylor Hearn signed a contract with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in Japan. This team plays in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). In 2024, he played in 35 games for Hiroshima. He had a great ERA of 1.29 and struck out 26 batters.
On November 8, 2024, Taylor signed another one-year contract with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp.
Taylor's Life Outside Baseball
Taylor Hearn is a Christian. His family has a history in rodeo. His grandfather Cleo, his father Robby, and three of his uncles were all rodeo cowboys. Taylor also participated in rodeos when he was growing up, from age 4 to 17.
In 2017, Royse City High School retired Taylor's number 21 jersey. This means no other player at the school will wear that number again.
