Taylor Lynn Hearn (born August 30, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He plays for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Before that, he played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals.

Taylor Hearn's Early Baseball Journey
Taylor Hearn grew up in Royse City, Texas. He went to Royse City High School. After high school, the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in 2012. But Taylor decided to go to San Jacinto College instead. He wanted to play college baseball.
The Cincinnati Reds drafted him again in 2013. Still, he chose not to sign. After two years at San Jacinto, the Minnesota Twins drafted him in 2014. He decided to transfer to Oklahoma Baptist University. After one year there, the Washington Nationals drafted him in 2015. This time, he signed and began his professional career.
Starting in the Minor Leagues
Taylor started playing in the minor leagues in 2015. He played for the GCL Nationals and the Auburn Doubledays. He had a 1–5 record with a 3.56 earned run average (ERA). In 2016, he played for the GCL Nationals and the Hagerstown Suns.

Time with the Washington Nationals
Taylor started his professional career with the Washington Nationals. He played for their minor league teams. He showed promise as a young pitcher.
Moving to the Pittsburgh Pirates
In July 2016, the Nationals traded Taylor to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He joined their Single–A team, the West Virginia Power. In 2017, he played for the Bradenton Marauders. He had a 4–6 record with a 4.12 ERA. In 2018, he started with the Altoona Curve. He was even chosen for the Eastern League All-Star team.
Joining the Texas Rangers
In July 2018, Taylor was traded to the Texas Rangers. He finished that year with the Frisco RoughRiders. He had a combined 4–8 record with a 3.49 ERA. The Rangers added him to their main roster after the season.
In 2019, Taylor started with the Nashville Sounds. He was called up to the Rangers on April 25, 2019. This was his first time playing in Major League Baseball. He pitched a short time and then went on the injured list. He had an elbow injury and did not play again in 2019.
In 2020, Taylor pitched 17.1 innings for Texas. He had a 3.63 ERA. In 2021, he had a 6–6 record with a 4.66 ERA. He pitched 114.1 innings. In 2022, he pitched 100 innings. He had a 6–8 record with a 5.13 ERA. He also earned his first career save that year.
In 2023, Taylor spent most of his time with the Round Rock Express. He pitched well there with a 3.66 ERA. He played four games for the Rangers, but struggled. He was later moved off the Rangers' main roster.
Short Stays with Atlanta and Kansas City
In July 2023, Taylor was traded to the Atlanta Braves. He made one appearance for them. The next day, he was sent to their Triple-A team.
Just a day later, the Braves traded Taylor to the Kansas City Royals. He made his Royals debut in August 2023. He pitched in 8 games for the Royals. After the season, he chose to become a free agent.
Playing in Japan with Hiroshima Toyo Carp
On December 3, 2023, Taylor Hearn signed with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in Japan. He made 35 appearances for them in 2024. He had a very good 1.29 ERA with 26 strikeouts. On November 8, 2024, Taylor re-signed with the Carp for another year.
Taylor's Life Outside Baseball
Taylor Hearn is a Christian. His family has a history in rodeo. His grandfather, father, and three uncles were all rodeo cowboys. Taylor also participated in rodeos when he was younger, from age 4 to 17.
In 2017, Royse City High School retired Taylor's number 21 jersey. This was a special honor for him.
