Taylor Houser Jacobs is a former American football player. He was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for five seasons. Born on May 30, 1981, Taylor played college football for the Florida Gators. He was chosen in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft. During his time in the NFL, he played for the Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers, and Denver Broncos.

Taylor Jacobs' Early Life
Taylor Jacobs was born in Tallahassee, Florida in 1981. He went to FAMU Developmental Research High School in Tallahassee. There, he played high school football for the FAMU DRS Rattlers. He was even named to PrepStar's high school All-America team.
As a senior, he caught 37 passes for 685 yards and scored six touchdowns. In his junior year, he caught 33 passes for 708 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also ran for 362 yards. Taylor was also a great baseball player and a talented track athlete. In 1999, he ran the 100-meter dash in 10.50 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.05 seconds. These times were at the Florida Class 1A track and field championship.
College Football Career
Taylor Jacobs received a sports scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville. He played for the Florida Gators football team from 1999 to 2002. His coaches were Steve Spurrier and Ron Zook.
In 1999, Taylor was the only first-year wide receiver to play. He appeared in 10 out of 12 games, including the Citrus Bowl. As a sophomore in 2000, he played in all 12 regular-season games. He started five of those games. He caught 17 passes for 198 yards and scored two touchdowns.
During his junior year in 2001, Jacobs played in all 12 games. He started three games, including the Orange Bowl. He made 38 catches for 712 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2002, as a senior team captain, Taylor was the Gators' best receiver. He had 71 catches for 1,088 yards, averaging 98.8 receiving yards per game. He also had four games where he gained over 100 receiving yards.
He started all 11 games that year. Taylor was one of ten semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award. He was also chosen for the first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC). After his college career, he played in the Senior Bowl and the Hula Bowl all-star games.
After his NFL career, Taylor returned to the University of Florida. He finished his bachelor's degree in sociology in 2009.
Professional Football Journey
Playing for the Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins picked Taylor Jacobs in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft. He was the 44th player chosen overall. His former college coach, Steve Spurrier, was the head coach for the Redskins at the time.
Taylor played for the Redskins from 2003 to 2005. In his first year, 2003, he didn't play much due to several injuries. He played in eight games and had three catches for 37 yards and one touchdown. In 2004, he played in 15 games and started four. He caught 16 passes for 178 yards.
Time with the San Francisco 49ers
On August 14, 2006, Taylor Jacobs was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. He was traded for another player named Mike Rumph. He stayed with the 49ers until October 2, 2007, when he was released.
Joining the Denver Broncos
Taylor Jacobs then signed with the Denver Broncos on November 6, 2007. He played for them for a short time before being released on August 26, 2008.
