Tecka's History
Tecka was once a winter home for groups of people who moved around a lot. These included the Tehuelche people and later the Mapuche people. They were indigenous (native) groups of the area.
One special place in Tecka is the tomb of a famous leader named Inacayal. He was a cacique, which means a chief or leader of an indigenous community. Inacayal lived from 1835 to 1888.
He was held prisoner by the government far away in La Plata. Many years after he died, his remains were brought back to Tecka. This was his original home. You can see his remains displayed in a glass case.
The town of Tecka was officially started on July 11, 1921.
