Tempio Pausania is a town in northern Sardinia, Italy. About 14,000 people live there. It is located in the Gallura region, which is part of the Sassari province. Tempio Pausania is known as one of "The most beautiful villages of Italy."

A Look Back: History of Tempio Pausania
Tempio Pausania has a long and interesting history. It has always been an important cultural and administrative center for the Gallura region. The buildings in its old town are made from granite stone. They look a lot like the towns found in southern Corsica.
From 2005 to 2016, Tempio Pausania was a capital city. It shared this role with Olbia for the province of Olbia-Tempio.

Tempio Pausania has many interesting places to visit. The town's historic center is a great place to explore. Many buildings there were built in the 1700s using grey granite blocks.
Famous Buildings and Areas
- The historic center of the town, especially Corso Matteotti and Via Roma.
- The San Pietro (Santu Petru) Cathedral is a very old church.
- The Santa Croce Church is another important religious building.
- The Oratorio del Rosario dates back to the 13th or 14th century.
- Palazzo Villamarina-Pes is a palace from the 17th century.
- Palazzo degli Scolopi was built in the 17th century and now holds provincial offices.
- The Purgatorio (Lu Pulgatoriu) Church is also from the 17th century.
Ancient Ruins and Nature Spots
- Nuraghe Maiori (Naracu Maiori) and Nuraghe Polcu (Naracu Polcu) are ancient stone towers. These were built by the Nuragic people of Sardinia long ago.
- You can find the ruins of a palace that belonged to Giudice Nino Visconti di Gallura from the 1200s.
- Fonti di Rinagghju are natural springs.
- Monte Limbara is a mountain about 16 kilometers (10 miles) south of the town. It stands 1,359 meters (4,459 feet) tall.
Getting Around: Transport in Tempio Pausania
Tempio Pausania is connected by national roads to other important cities. You can reach Sassari and Olbia easily by car. The town also has a railway station. This station is part of a narrow gauge line that goes from Sassari to Palau. Sometimes, special tourist trains called Trenino Verde run on this line.
