The Tenney Fire Hall was an old fire station in Tenney, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1904. This building was important because it showed how small towns like Tenney provided services for their people.

In 1980, the fire hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of buildings, sites, and objects that are important in American history. Sadly, the fire hall burned down in 2010. The village of Tenney itself became part of Campbell Township in 2011. This happened because the village had only three residents left.

What Did the Fire Hall Look Like?

The Tenney Fire Hall was a wooden building, about 24 feet long and 14 feet wide. It had metal siding that looked like bricks. A special part of the building was its large bell tower. This tower had a pointy roof and windows with slanted slats called louvers. The fire hall looked like a smaller version of the town hall next to it.

History of the Fire Hall

The Fire Hall was built in 1904. Its main job was to keep the town's two fire pumpers safe. These were special machines that helped put out fires. They were pulled by hand. The town also used a large well with a pump to get water for fighting fires until 1924.

In 1918, the town's small jail was moved and attached to the back of the fire hall. This made space for a bigger fire pumper. For many years, the building was used for different things. It was a place where people met, a place where people voted, and of course, a fire station and a jail.

In the 1990s, a private owner wanted to save the fire hall. He hoped to make it a place that people would want to visit. However, it was hard to move or fix the building because of rules for places on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 2008, someone accidentally crashed a vehicle into the fire hall. This damaged one corner of the building. Then, in 2010, the fire hall sadly burned to the ground.

The Fire Hall's Bell Today

Even though the building is gone, a part of the Tenney Fire Hall still exists. In 2016, the fire hall's original bell was moved. It was installed in the offices of a company called Myriad Mobile in Fargo, North Dakota.
