Teoman "Teo" Alibegović (born January 11, 1967) is a famous former professional basketball player. He also worked as a coach and manager. Teo is known for being the second highest scorer ever for the senior Slovenian national basketball team, with 990 points.

Early Life and Basketball Beginnings
Teoman Alibegović was born in Zenica, which was part of Yugoslavia at the time. Later, his family moved to Jesenice, Slovenia. There, he went to primary school and started playing basketball. He joined the junior teams of KK Jesenice.
In 1982, Teo moved to KK Olimpija's youth teams. After two years, he moved again to Sarajevo. He played for KK Bosna, which was one of the best basketball clubs in Yugoslavia back then.
College Basketball Career
In 1988, Teoman Alibegović went to Oregon State University in the United States. He played basketball for the Oregon State Beavers team. He studied there for three years. Teo earned degrees in business and communication.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Teo Alibegović started his professional career. The Quad City Thunder picked him in the 1991 CBA draft. However, he did not play for them. His first professional season was with the Yakima Sun Kings in the CBA league.
At the end of the 1991–92 season, Teo joined the Italian club Fortitudo Bologna. From 1993 to 1996, he played for the German team Alba Berlin. He helped them win the FIBA Korać Cup championship in 1995. This was a big achievement!
Before the 1996–97 season, Teo signed with the Turkish club Ülkerspor. After six months, he returned to Italy to play for Trieste. The next season, 1997–98, he played in Spain for Cáceres CB.
For the 1998–99 season, he went back to Trieste. From 1999 to 2002, he played for another Italian club, Snaidero Udine. In his final year as a professional player, he played in Greece for Ionikos NF.
Playing for His Country
Teoman Alibegović played for the Yugoslavian national teams when he was younger. He helped the Yugoslavia Under-18 team win the 1986 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship. He also helped the Under-19 team win the 1987 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
From 1991 to 2001, Teo was a member of the senior men's Slovenian national basketball team. He played in four EuroBasket tournaments with Slovenia. These were in 1993, 1995, 1997, and 2001. He played in 52 games for Slovenia. He scored 990 points, making him one of Slovenia's top scorers in history.
Life After Playing: Coaching and Management
After retiring as a player, Teoman Alibegović became a coach. Before the 2003–04 season, he became the head coach of Udine. In 2005, he worked as the general manager for Fortitudo Bologna.
He was also the head coach of Leagea Scafati from December 2006 to November 2007. From 2008 to 2010, he worked as a head consultant for Udine.
Family and Basketball Connections
Teoman Alibegović has three sons: Mirza (born 1992), Amar (born 1995), and Denis (born 1999). All three of his sons are also basketball players!
Mirza played for Brescia in Italy. Denis played for the Stella Azzurra Roma youth teams. Amar also played for teams in Rome before he chose to play college basketball for the St. John's Red Storm in the USA. Amar now plays professionally in Italy.
Teo's nephew, Luka Garza, is also a well-known basketball player. Luka played for the Iowa Hawkeyes in college. He was named a first-team All-American and the Big Ten Conference Player of the Year in 2020. Luka Garza was chosen by the Detroit Pistons in the 2021 NBA draft.
