Terrance Dean (born September 8, 1968 – died August 11, 2022) was an American author, professor, and a former executive at MTV. He was well-known for his 2008 book Hiding in Hip-Hop. He also wrote other books like Reclaim Your Power! A 30-Day Guide to Hope, Healing and Inspiration for Men of Color (2003) and Visible Lives: Three Stories in Tribute to E. Lynn Harris (2010).

In 2011, Dean wrote his first fiction novel, MOGUL. From 2019, he worked as a researcher and teacher in Black Studies at Denison University.
