Terry Wayne Tausch (born February 5, 1959 – died March 25, 2020) was an American professional football player. He played as a guard in the National Football League (NFL). The NFL is the biggest professional football league in the United States.

Terry Tausch's Football Journey

High School and College Years

Terry Tausch started his football journey in high school. He played for the New Braunfels High School team as a tight end. After high school, he was invited to play for the University of Texas at Austin. There, he changed positions and became an offensive tackle.

Terry was a very talented college player. He was named an All-American in both 1980 and 1981. Being an All-American means he was recognized as one of the best college football players in the country. In 2001, he was honored by the University of Texas and added to their Athletics Hall of Honor.

Playing in the NFL

In 1982, Terry Tausch was chosen to play in the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings picked him in the second round of the draft. This means he was the 39th player chosen overall that year.

He played for the Minnesota Vikings for seven seasons, from 1982 to 1988. During this time, he played in 68 games as a right guard. A guard is a player on the offensive line who blocks for the quarterback and running backs.

In 1989, Terry played one season for the San Francisco 49ers. That year was special because the 49ers won Super Bowl XXIV. The Super Bowl is the championship game of the NFL.

Family Life

Terry Tausch was married to Ela, and they had two sons, Nicholas and Eric. Both of his sons also played college football. Nicholas played for Notre Dame, and Eric played for TCU.

Later Life

Terry Tausch passed away on March 25, 2020. He was 61 years old and died at his home in Plano, Texas.
