Tetsuya Enomoto (榎本 哲也, Enomoto Tetsuya, born May 2, 1983) is a Japanese former football player. He used to play as a goalkeeper. Today, he helps coach the goalkeepers for the J1 League club Yokohama F. Marinos.

Tetsuya Enomoto's Football Journey

Tetsuya Enomoto was born in Kawasaki, Japan, on May 2, 1983. He started his football journey early. He joined the youth team of Yokohama F. Marinos in 1999.

Playing for Yokohama F. Marinos

In 2002, Tetsuya Enomoto officially joined the J1 League club Yokohama F. Marinos. He made his first professional appearance in 2003. For a while, he competed with another player, Tatsuya Enomoto, for the goalkeeper spot.

After Tatsuya Enomoto left the club at the end of 2006, Tetsuya became the main goalkeeper. He played many games for the team. However, from 2009, his playing time decreased because of another strong goalkeeper, Hiroki Iikura.

Tetsuya worked hard and became the regular goalkeeper again in 2013. But by 2015, Hiroki Iikura once again took over the main goalkeeper role.

Moving to Other Clubs

In 2017, Enomoto moved to Urawa Red Diamonds. Even there, he found it hard to get playing time. This was because of the team's main goalkeeper, Shusaku Nishikawa.

In 2019, Tetsuya Enomoto joined Kataller Toyama, a club in the J3 League. He played 27 games for them that season.

Life After Playing Football

Tetsuya Enomoto stopped playing professional football at the end of 2019. But he didn't leave the sport! In February 2020, he became a goalkeeper coach at the Yokohama F. Marinos' Soccer School.

Then, for the 2021 season, he was promoted. He became the goalkeeper coach for the professional J1 League team of Yokohama F. Marinos. This means he now helps train the goalkeepers for the same team he once played for.
