MAMA noodles are sold all over the world. Thai President Foods is the biggest maker of instant noodles in Thailand. In 2020, they made more than half of all the instant noodles sold there.

Company History

Thai President Foods has been a public company since 1978. This means parts of the company, called shares, can be bought and sold on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).

In 2008, the company had 3,824 people working for them. By 2015, Thai President Foods was the largest instant noodle maker in Thailand. They had 53% of the market share. This means they sold more than half of all instant noodles in the country.

In 2017, some changes happened. Thai President Foods joined with another company called President Rice Products. Their shares are now traded together on the stock exchange under the symbol TFMAMA.

The very first flavor of MAMA noodles was Tom Yum Shrimp. This is a popular spicy and sour Thai soup flavor.

Where MAMA Noodles Are Made

Thai President Foods has many factories where they make their products. In Thailand, they have factories in places like Lamphun, Si Racha, Rayong, and Ratchaburi.

In 2020, they increased their production in Thailand. They can now make eight million packages of instant noodles every day!

The company also has factories in other countries. You can find their factories in Yangon, Myanmar; Bangladesh; Cambodia; and even Hungary. The factory in Hungary makes "Thai Chef" and "Asia Gold" noodles for people in Europe.

Expanding Production

Thai President Foods is always looking to grow. They are building a second factory in Mandalay, Myanmar. This new factory will help them make 400,000 more noodle packages each day.

People in Myanmar don't eat as many packaged noodles as people in Thailand. This means there's a lot of room for the company to sell more there. In 2018, MAMA's sales in Myanmar were 657 million baht. The company expected these sales to double by 2020.

They are also building a new factory in Cambodia. This new factory will replace their old one. They plan to make 80,000 cases of noodles there each month. This could bring in 565 million baht in sales each year.

Company Money Matters

In 2019, Thai President Foods made a total of 24.7 billion baht in sales. This was more than the 22.9 billion baht they made in 2018. Their profit in 2019 was 5.14 billion baht.

The total sales of all instant noodles in Thailand in 2015 were about 15.8 billion baht. This was a small increase from 15.4 billion baht in 2014.

Sometimes, big events can affect how much people buy. In 2014, Thailand's economy grew very slowly. Because of this, MAMA noodle sales only grew by one percent. In 2015, sales grew even less, by only 0.4%. This was the lowest growth in 44 years for the company.

Even with slow sales growth in 2014, the company still made a good profit of 1.7 billion baht. The sales slowdown in 2015 mostly affected people with lower incomes. These are often the main buyers of instant noodles.

Normally, instant noodle sales grow by 5–6% each year. In 2019, MAMA was still the top instant noodle brand in Thailand. Other popular brands were Wai Wai and Yum Yum.
