Xu Minghao (born November 7, 1997), known as The8, is a Chinese singer and dancer. He is famous for being a member of the South Korean boy band Seventeen. The8 is part of Seventeen's performance team, which focuses on dancing. His music career is managed by Pledis Entertainment.
In 2018, The8 released his first solo song called "Night and Rain." He also worked as a dance mentor on the Chinese TV show Youth With You. In 2024, he released his first collection of songs, an EP titled Stardust.

About The8's Early Life
The8 was born in Haicheng, Liaoning, China, on November 7, 1997. He went to the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy to study music.
The8's Career Journey
Starting Out in China (2008–2014)
The8 began his career in China at a young age. In 2008, he appeared on a Chinese TV program called CCTV Variety Show. He also appeared on another Chinese show, Day Day Up, in 2010.
Joining Seventeen and Solo Work (2015–Present)
The8 first appeared on Seventeen TV in late 2014. He officially joined the South Korean boy band Seventeen on May 29, 2015. Their first album was called 17 Carat.
After joining Seventeen, The8 also appeared on the TV show Real Class - Elementary School in 2017. In December 2017, he took a short break from performing due to a waist injury. He returned to activities with Seventeen's special album Directors Cut in February 2018.
In 2018, The8 was on the Chinese reality show Chao Yin Zhan Ji with his bandmate Jun. In 2019, he became a dance coach on the Chinese survival show Youth With You. He released his first solo song, "Dreams Come True," on June 9, 2019. On May 8, 2020, he released his second solo song, "Falling Down."
On April 13, 2021, The8 released his third solo song, "Side by Side," in both Chinese and Korean. He also released a song called "Mom's Missed Call" with Jun on May 4, 2021. All the money from this song went to help children in China. In September 2021, The8 and Jun took a temporary break from Seventeen to work in China. They returned to South Korea in December of that year.
On March 18, 2022, The8 released "Hai Cheng" (海城), a song dedicated to his hometown. On December 4, 2024, he released his first EP, Stardust. This EP has three songs, including "Orbit" which features JinJiBeWater. In February 2025, The8 started working as a producer and mentor on the survival show Chuang Asia: Season 2.
