The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland is a fun video game based on the popular movie of the same name. It was released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color and Windows computers. In this game, you get to join Elmo on an exciting adventure!
About the Game
This game is a type of video game called a platformer. In a platformer, you control a character who jumps between platforms and avoids obstacles. The Game Boy Color version was published by NewKidCo. The computer version was published by Mattel Media.
How to Play
The Game Boy Color version of The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland has eight levels. These levels are side-scrolling, meaning you move Elmo from left to right across the screen. You will help Elmo jump over things like fire hydrants.
There are also two special levels that are different.
- In one level, Elmo rides in a minecart. You need to duck to avoid hitting low ceilings.
- In another level, Elmo falls through Oscar the Grouch's trash can. You move Elmo left and right to avoid falling trash.
Computer Version
The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland was also released as a CD-ROM game for home computers. Mattel Media first published it in October 1999. Later, in 2005, Encore Software and Sesame Workshop re-released it.
This computer game is more than just fun; it's also educational. You travel with Elmo to find his lost blanket in Grouchland. While playing, you learn important ideas like sharing and friendship. The game also helps you practice skills such as:
- Solving problems
- Observing details
- Predicting what might happen
- Understanding spatial relations (how objects fit together in space)
