Original release October 30, 1999 (1999-10-30) – February 26, 2000 (2000-02-26)

The Avengers: United They Stand is an animated TV series. It is based on the famous Marvel Comics superhero team, the Avengers. The show had 13 episodes. It first aired on October 30, 1999, and ended on February 26, 2000. Avi Arad produced this series.

The show features some well-known Avengers. These include Ant-Man and the Wasp. It also introduced other heroes like Wonder Man, Tigra, Hawkeye, Falcon, Vision, and Scarlet Witch.

Meet the Avengers Team

This series shows a special team of Avengers. It includes the Wasp, Wonder Man, Tigra, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch. Ant-Man (who can also become Giant-Man) leads the team. Later, the Falcon and the Vision join them.

Some of the most famous Avengers, like Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, only appear a few times. Captain America shows up in one episode. Iron Man helps the team in another. Thor only appears in the opening credits.

Battling Super Villains

The Avengers face many villains from the comic books. These include powerful foes like Ultron and Kang the Conqueror. They also fight the Masters of Evil, a group of different villains. This group includes Baron Helmut Zemo, Tiger Shark, and Absorbing Man.

Other villains they battle are the Grim Reaper and the Zodiac. The show also features characters like the Swordsman and Namor.

Unique Look and Powers

The show gave the heroes a new look. Many characters, like Ant-Man, Wasp, Hawkeye, and Falcon, wear special battle armor. They put on this armor in cool "power-up" scenes. This armor helps them fight in different places, like extreme heat or underwater. It also makes their powers stronger.

In this series, Tigra is an athlete. She got her cat-like form and abilities from a science experiment. The show also hints at some comic book details. For example, it mentions Hawkeye's partial deafness.

Who Are the Voices Behind the Heroes?

  • Tony Daniels – Hawkeye/Clint Barton
  • Stavroula Logothettis – Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff
  • Hamish McEwan – Wonder Man/Simon Williams

Many other actors voiced various characters and villains:

How the Show Was Made

The idea for an Avengers cartoon started in 1997. Writers Robert N. Skir and Marty Isenberg first developed the concept. However, Marvel faced financial issues, which paused the project.

Later, in 1998, the project was restarted. Eric Lewald and Julia Lewald became the story editors. In January 1999, the show got the official green light. Ron Myrick was in charge of the show's visual style.

Why the Team Was Different

The show's team was based on the The West Coast Avengers comic series. The creators wanted a balanced team of heroes. They didn't want the show to be just about one "superstar" hero like Captain America or Iron Man.

The show also tried to be like the popular Batman Beyond series. It was set about 25 years in the future. New York City had a mix of future and modern looks. The special armor the Avengers wore helped them adapt to different environments.
