The Baker Street Boys was a British television show from the BBC that first aired in 1983. It tells the exciting stories of a group of street kids in old-time London, during the Victorian era. These clever kids help the famous detective Sherlock Holmes solve mysteries. Sometimes, they even solve their own cases!

Making the Show: Production Details

Anthony Read came up with the idea for The Baker Street Boys. He had worked on an earlier Sherlock Holmes TV series in 1965. Read often wondered what Holmes's helpers, known as the Baker Street Irregulars, did when they weren't working for the detective. This show explores their own adventures.

In the series, Sherlock Holmes was usually busy with other cases. He might be held captive by his enemy, Professor Moriarty, or simply sick in bed. So, he was never fully seen on screen. Only his voice was heard, provided by Roger Ostime.

However, other important characters from the Sherlock Holmes stories were often there. These included Dr. Watson, Inspector Lestrade, and Mrs. Hudson. They helped the Baker Street Boys when needed.
