Adam Brinley Woodyatt (born 28 June 1968) is a famous English actor. He is best known for playing Ian Beale in the BBC TV show EastEnders. He has been in the show since it first started in 1985. This makes him the longest-serving male actor in EastEnders.

Adam Woodyatt's Early Life and School
Adam Woodyatt was born on 28 June 1968 in Walthamstow, London. He grew up in east London. He went to two special schools. One was Forest School in Walthamstow. There, he was in classes with comedy writer Sharat Sardana and cricket player Nasser Hussain. He also went to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, which is a famous acting school. For a short time, he also attended Llanidloes High School in Wales.
Adam Woodyatt's Acting Career
When Adam was 13, he acted on stage at the Royal National Theatre in a play called On the Razzle. After finishing his studies at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, Adam appeared in some TV shows. These included the BBC children's show The Baker Street Boys and the ITV fantasy show The Witches and the Grinnygog. Both of these shows were in 1983.
Adam then took a short break from acting. He worked as a butcher in Wales. Soon after, he joined the cast of the BBC soap opera EastEnders. He didn't think he would stay for long. But he became the longest-serving male actor in the show's history. In 2013, he won a special Lifetime Achievement Award. This award was for his amazing work as Ian Beale.
Adam has also been a guest on many BBC game shows. He has helped with charity events too. He appeared on A Question of Sport and Robot Wars. He even won the Robot Wars Celebrity Special with his robot Pussycat. He has also helped raise money for Children in Need.
In 2015, Adam acted in a pantomime show. He played the henchman of the Wicked Queen in Snow White. He said he loves performing live. He enjoys the audience's reaction, which is different from filming for TV.
In August 2020, it was announced that Adam would take a long break from EastEnders. He made a short return in 2022 for the funeral of Dot Cotton. He came back to the show for good in August 2023. His character's wife, Cindy Beale, also returned.
In November 2021, Adam joined I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. He entered the show with actor Simon Gregson. Adam finished in sixth place.
Adam Woodyatt also loves photography. He started this hobby when he was 13. He took up photography while acting in On The Razzle. In 2008, he won an award for his photography. He won the Architectural Photographer of the Year Award. He took the winning picture at St Pancras, where he was filming EastEnders.
Adam Woodyatt's Personal Life
Adam Woodyatt married Beverley Sharp in 1998. They have two children together. For many years, his family lived in Southam, Warwickshire. This is about 72 miles from the BBC Elstree Studios. That's where EastEnders is filmed. Adam is a big fan of Liverpool F.C.. He also loves sci-fi movies and shows.
Charity Work
Adam's father passed away from cancer when he was 58. This inspired Adam to help raise money for cancer research. In 2003, he broke his collarbone while training for a charity bike ride.
Adam also helped start an event to raise money for Haiti in 2010. Many of his actor friends helped. They signed autographs and gave items for an auction. This event raised £30,000. Adam also supports the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. He is an Ambassador for the Children's Air Ambulance.
In 2019, Adam ran the London Marathon. He ran with some of his EastEnders co-stars. They did this to support a Dementia campaign. It was in honor of former EastEnders actress Barbara Windsor.
