The Brewery Arts Complex in Los Angeles is a huge place where artists live and work. Many people call it the largest artist community of its kind in the world! This big area covers 16 acres and used to be twenty-one warehouses. It even has an old chimney from an Edison power plant built in 1903. Today, you'll find art studios, homes for artists, restaurants, and art galleries here.
Artists at The Brewery work in many different fields. These include painting, sculpture, photography, and even designing industrial products or buildings. They also explore new types of art using technology. More than 100 of these art studios open their doors to the public twice a year. This event is called the Brewery Art Walk.
The Brewery's History
The Brewery Arts Complex started its life in 1903. Back then, it was an Edison Electric Steam Power Plant. Later, it became a Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery, making beer. In 1982, the buildings began to change. They were turned into special homes and workspaces, known as artist lofts, for creative people.
