The Country Mouse and the City Mouse Adventures is a fun animated TV show. It was made in Canada and France. The show first aired in the U.S. on HBO in 1998. It also started in France on France 3 in 1998. This series is about two mouse cousins who travel the world.

What's the Show About?

The show follows two mouse cousins, Emily and Alexander. Emily is from the country, and Alexander is from the city. They go on exciting trips all over the world. Their adventures usually happen in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

They travel to help their other mouse cousins. They also solve mysteries. Sometimes, they even stop a tricky rat named No-Tail No-Goodnik.

The main characters first appeared in a TV special from 1993. That special was called The Country Mouse and the City Mouse: A Christmas Tale. The show is loosely based on a very old story. It comes from one of Aesop's famous fables.

Meet the Characters

  • Emily is a kind country mouse. She wears a red dress and a white apron. She also has a straw hat with a red ribbon. Her voice is done by Julie Burroughs.
  • Alexander is a smart city mouse. He is Emily's cousin. He wears a blue pinstriped suit and a matching hat. He also has a red bowtie. Terrence Scammell is his voice actor.
  • No-Tail No-Goodnik is the main bad guy. He is a rat who likes to steal things. He has a short tail, but we never find out why. He often uses fake tails to trick people. Rick Jones voices this sneaky character.

How the Show Was Made

The Country Mouse and the City Mouse Adventures was first planned to have 26 episodes. Making these episodes cost about 9 million U.S. dollars. Many companies worked together to create the show. These included Ravensburger from Germany and Reader's Digest from the U.S. The Canadian company CINAR (now called WildBrain) helped a lot. They put in 6 million U.S. dollars for the first part of the project.

The characters were first seen in a 1993 HBO special. This special was based on the classic fable The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. That story was written by Aesop.
