The Dengineers is a fun British TV show for kids on CBBC. It's all about building amazing and unique "dens" or playhouses for children. A team of expert designers and builders, called 'dengineers', work with the kids to create these special spaces. The show has had different hosts, including Meryl Fernandes and Joe Tracini recently, and before them, Lauren Layfield and Mark Wright. The designers help bring these cool ideas to life. Each episode features a different theme, like an old train station, a 1960s American diner, or even an Australian outback shack!

The show is a bit like other building shows, but it's made just for kids. The Dengineers team builds incredible dens from scratch or transforms a room in a home. The Dengineers has also been shown in other countries. It aired in the United States on Discovery Family and in 2021, Czech Television started showing the first two seasons. In 2019, the show won an award at the British Academy Children's Awards for being a great factual entertainment program.

Making the Show

The Dengineers was first announced on December 16, 2014. This was part of a plan for new shows on CBBC in 2015. On April 11, 2015, it was shared that Mark Wright would host the show with Lauren Layfield. Lauren later became a host for CBBC HQ.

A second series of the show was ordered on July 7, 2016. Then, on April 11, 2017, it was announced that Mark Wright would be leaving. Joe Tracini took his place as a host. In 2017, there was a special episode made with Children in Need and Blue Peter. Famous guests like Naomi Wilkinson, Ayshah Tull, Katie Thistleton, Ben Shires, Rhys Stephenson, and Hacker T. Dog appeared in this special episode.

Show Episodes

The Dengineers has had many exciting episodes over the years. Each episode features a new child and a new amazing den idea. There have been five series of the show so far. The hosts have changed a few times, bringing new energy to each series.

Other cool dens have been a Hollywood Cinema Den, an Eco Den, and a Magical Library Den. Later series featured dens like an Observatory Den, a Scottish Castle Den, and a Witchcraft and Wizardry Den. More recent themes included an Australia Den, a Sweetie Den, and a Magic Den. The show also built a Black History Den, an Underwater Den, and a Japanese Den. There are also "Revisit" episodes where the team checks in on dens they built before.
