What's the Story About?
This adventure takes place in a tiny kingdom called the Ozure Isles. These five islands are in Lake Orizon, hidden by tall mountains in a faraway part of Munchkin Land. The people there don't have much contact with the rest of Oz.
The Ozure Isles' Big Problem
An evil witch named Mombi caused a lot of trouble for the Ozure Isles. She kidnapped Queen Orin, their ruler. Mombi also left a scary, fire-breathing lake monster named Quiberon in Lake Orizon. This monster kept the islanders trapped. Even after Mombi was defeated, Quiberon stayed.
Things got even worse when Quiberon demanded a "mortal maiden" to keep him company. In Oz, which is a fairyland, only three American girls are considered mortal. These girls are Dorothy Gale, Betsy Bobbin, and Tiny Trot. They all live in the Emerald City.
Heroes and Kidnappings!
Two people from the Ozure Isles reacted to this problem in different ways. Prince Philador, a brave hero, escaped the islands. He went to find help from the Good Witch of the North, whose name is Tattypoo.
But Akbad, a soothsayer from the Ozure Isles, chose a different path. He wasn't very brave. Akbad stole some magic wings and flew to the Emerald City. He planned to kidnap Trot. By accident, he also kidnapped the Scarecrow and a talking statue named Benny. Benny's full name means "public benefactor," which is someone who helps others.
An Epic Journey and Happy Endings
Prince Philador's journey to find Tattypoo was full of adventure. He met some amazing new friends. One was High Boy, a giant horse with legs that could stretch very long! He also teamed up with Herby the Medicine Man. Herby is an old-fashioned doctor who has a medicine chest built right into his own chest! Another friend was Jo King, a funny king who loves to joke around.
Their adventures took them to strange places like Cave City. They also met unusual beings like the Roundabouties and the Shutterfaces.
In the end, everything worked out well. The Wizard used his magic to turn Quiberon, the lake monster, into a beautiful statue of bronze and silver. It was also discovered that the good Witch Tattypoo was actually the missing Queen Orin! She had lost her memory. Queen Orin was reunited with her family and her kingdom. Trot became a princess of the Ozure Isles and can visit their Sapphire City whenever she likes. Finally, by a special rule from Ozma, Jo King became the ruler of the entire Gillikin Country of Oz.
