Meet the Bear Family
This cartoon is about a family of Bears called the Ruggs. They live in the mountains. The show makes fun of the idea of "hillbilly" families.
- Paw Rugg is the dad. Henry Corden did his voice. Paw often carries a gun. He usually mumbles when he talks. He is always "feudin'" with their neighbors, the Hoppers. This feud is usually very slow. They might even shoot the same bullet back and forth from their rocking chairs!
- Maw Rugg is the mom. Jean Vander Pyl voiced her. Maw is a homemaker. She is often the most sensible parent. She tries to keep the family in line.
- Floral Rugg is their daughter. Jean Vander Pyl also voiced her. Floral has light yellow fur. She is the most fancy member of the family. She acts like a proper Southern lady.
- Shag Rugg is the youngest son. Don Messick voiced him. Shag is a bit of a troublemaker. He looks up to his dad, Paw. Floral and Shag's voices are much like Judy and Elroy from The Jetsons.
