(original series)

Wacky Races is an American animated TV show. Rebecca Himot and Tramm Wigzell created it. This show is a new version of the original Wacky Races from 1968. That classic cartoon was made by Hanna-Barbera.

The new Wacky Races started in 2017. You could watch it on Boomerang's video on demand service in the United States. The show was so popular that it got a second season!

About the Show

This series brings back many favorite characters from the first Wacky Races. You'll see Dick Dastardly, Muttley, Penelope Pitstop, Peter Perfect, and the Gruesome Twosome.

But there are also new faces! These include I. Q. Ickly, Brick Crashman, P. T. Barnstorm, and Pandora Pitstop.

The new show keeps the spirit of the old one. However, it also explores the racers' lives outside of the races. Stories are added, and often there isn't a clear winner or loser at the end. The show also uses "meta-humor," which means it sometimes jokes about itself or talks directly to the audience.

Main Characters

The Racers

  • Dick Dastardly III and Muttley (voiced by Peter Woodward and Billy West): Dick Dastardly still loves to cheat and play tricks. But now, Peter Perfect often tries to make him be nice or stop cheating. Dick's look is mostly purple in this show. Muttley hasn't changed much. He still snickers and grumbles. We learn that Dick Dastardly is related to the original Dick Dastardly from the 1968 series.
  • Penelope Pitstop (voiced by Nicole Parker): Penelope is an original character who has changed a lot. She is now stronger and less likely to need saving. She's still very kind and speaks with a Southern belle accent. Her outfit is mostly pink with hearts.
  • Peter Perfect (voiced by Diedrich Bader): Peter is much like his original self. He sometimes teases Dastardly more than before. His car and clothes are mostly orange and red.
  • Tiny and Bella – the Gruesome Twosome (voiced by Billy West and Tom Kenny): These two are also from the first series. They are very similar to their original versions.
  • Ignatius Quinton "I. Q." Ickly (voiced by Jill Talley): I. Q. is a new character. He's often called a "walking encyclopedia" because he knows so much. He's a genius who invents many things for the races. Since he's only ten, his car drives itself with a smart AI.

Other Characters

Racers and Friends

  • Pandora Pitstop (voiced by Nicole Parker): Pandora is Penelope's evil twin sister. She is 12 seconds younger than Penelope. She often races and is meaner than even Dastardly. She sometimes works with Dastardly for her own plans.
  • Captain Dash, Polly, Bugsy, Bluebeard and Davey Bones (voiced by Billy West and Tom Kenny): This is a group of pirates. They often try to steal jobs or wins from Dastardly.

Show Staff

  • Brick Crashman (voiced by Christopher Judge): He is the announcer for all the Wacky Races.
  • P. T. Barnstorm (voiced by Jill Talley): P. T. Barnstorm owns and sponsors the Wacky Races.
