Christopher Judge is an American actor and voice actor. He is famous for playing Teal'c in the TV show Stargate SG-1. He also voiced Kratos in the popular God of War video games. These include God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022). Before acting, he played football at the University of Oregon.

Early Life and Football Career
Christopher Judge knew he wanted to be an actor from a young age. He studied drama in high school. He felt that TV shows made him feel strong emotions, and he wanted to be the one to create those feelings for others. He always saw sports as a way to help him become an actor.
Judge earned a scholarship to the University of Oregon. He played football as a defensive back and safety for the Ducks from 1982 to 1985. He was a top player for his team. In 1982, he won the Casanova Award for the best new player. He was also chosen for the Pacific-10 Conference team in 1984. He played in the 1985 Hula Bowl, a special football game.
While in college, Judge won a contest to host a radio show. In his last year, he won another contest to host a TV show called the West Coast FOX KLSR Morning Show. This experience helped him find an agent and move back to Los Angeles to start his acting career.
Acting Career Highlights
In 1989, Christopher Judge began studying acting in Los Angeles. In the early 1990s, he appeared in movies like Bird on a Wire and Cadence. He also had roles in TV shows such as Neon Rider and MacGyver. On MacGyver, he worked with Richard Dean Anderson, who would later star with him in Stargate SG-1.
Judge also had small parts in other popular TV shows. These included 21 Jump Street and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He was a regular on the show Sirens from 1994 to 1995.
Becoming Teal'c in Stargate SG-1
Judge's biggest role came in 1997 with the TV series Stargate SG-1. He heard about the show when a friend's roommate was practicing for an audition. Judge was very interested. He called his agent and insisted on getting an audition for the role of Teal'c. Many actors tried out for Teal'c, but Judge felt confident he would get the part. He was right!
After Stargate SG-1, Judge appeared in other TV shows. These included Andromeda and Stargate Atlantis. He also acted in films like Snow Dogs and A Dog's Breakfast. The movie A Dog's Breakfast was written and directed by David Hewlett, another actor from Stargate. In 2012, Judge had a role in the movie The Dark Knight Rises.
Writing for Television
Christopher Judge also showed his talent as a writer. He wrote four episodes for the TV show Stargate SG-1. These episodes were "The Warrior" (season five), "The Changeling" (season six), "Birthright" (season seven), and "Sacrifices" (season eight).
After Stargate SG-1 ended, Judge started writing a script for a new show. He wanted to play the main character in this show.
Voice Acting Roles
Judge has also done a lot of voice acting for cartoons and video games. He was the voice of Magneto in the cartoon X-Men: Evolution. He also voiced Coach Grey in the Action Man cartoon.
In video games, he voiced D-Mob in Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam: Fight for NY. He also voiced Jericho in the game Turok.
A very important voice role for Judge was Kratos in the God of War video game from 2018. He took over the role from another actor. He played Kratos again in the sequel, God of War Ragnarök.
Personal Life and Family
Christopher Judge cares about helping young people. He works with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada. He also enjoys playing golf.
His son, Cameron, is a professional football player in Canada. He plays as a linebacker for the Calgary Stampeders. Another son, Christopher Jordan, also played college football and was drafted into the Canadian Football League.
In 2019, Judge had some health challenges. He needed surgery to replace both of his hips. He also had back and knee surgery.
Awards and Recognitions
Christopher Judge has received several awards and nominations for his acting.
In 2002, he was nominated for a Saturn Award. This award was for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for his work on Stargate SG-1.
He won the D.I.C.E. Award for Outstanding Achievement in Character in 2019 for his role as Kratos in God of War. He won this same award again in 2023 for his performance in God of War Ragnarök.
In 2019, he was nominated for a British Academy Games Award for Performer. In 2023, he won the British Academy Games Award for Performer in a Leading Role for his work in God of War Ragnarök.
He also won the Best Performance award at The Game Awards 2022 for playing Kratos in God of War Ragnarök.
