Magneto (real name: Max Eisenhardt) is a powerful character from Marvel Comics. He is often seen with the X-Men. He first appeared in The X-Men #1 in September 1963. He was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby.
Magneto is a mutant. Mutants are a special kind of human born with amazing powers. Magneto can create and control magnetic fields. He believes mutants are better than regular humans. He thinks they cannot live peacefully together.
Who is Magneto?
Magneto's story has changed over time. He is a survivor of a terrible historical event where many people were persecuted. Because of this, he wants to protect mutants from ever suffering like that. He believes mutants should be the main species on Earth. His motto is "Never again," meaning he wants to make sure bad things never happen to mutants.
He was once good friends with Professor X. Professor X leads the X-Men. But their different ideas often cause them to disagree. Magneto has been a supervillain, an antihero, and even a superhero. He has worked with the X-Men and even led the New Mutants. He was once the headmaster of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters.
His Story and Ideas
Writer Chris Claremont helped create Magneto's detailed background. He based Magneto on real-life leaders who fought for their people. Magneto's ideas are sometimes compared to those of Malcolm X, a civil rights leader.
