Def Jam Vendetta is a cool professional wrestling video game that came out in 2003. It was made by AKI Corporation and EA Canada, and Electronic Arts published it. You could play it on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube.
The game was released in North America on March 31, 2003. It came out in Europe and other PAL regions on May 23, 2003, and in Japan on August 21, 2003. What made Def Jam Vendetta special was that it featured famous hip hop musicians from the Def Jam Records label as characters you could play as or fight against!
About the Game
Def Jam Vendetta mixes wrestling moves with a story mode. Players get to step into the shoes of a new fighter trying to make a name for themselves. The game is set in the world of underground hip hop fighting. You battle against other characters, including real-life rappers, to become the top fighter.
Gameplay Basics
The game uses a fighting system where you can grab, punch, kick, and use special moves. Each character has unique moves that match their style. As you fight, you build up a special meter. When it's full, you can perform a powerful "Blazin' Move" to finish off your opponent. The game also has different arenas where fights take place, often with crowds cheering you on.
How it Was Made
The technology used to create Def Jam Vendetta was first planned for a different wrestling game. This was supposed to be a follow-up to EA's WCW Mayhem. However, EA lost the rights to WCW when the company was bought by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 2001. Because of this, EA decided to use the game engine for a new idea: a wrestling game featuring hip hop artists. This led to the creation of Def Jam Vendetta.
