Karl Diedrich Bader (born December 24, 1966) is a well-known American actor and comedian. He is famous for his funny roles and for lending his voice to many cartoon characters. You might know him from TV shows like The Drew Carey Show, American Housewife, and Outsourced. He also had important roles in Better Things and Veep.
Diedrich Bader has also been in movies such as The Beverly Hillbillies, Office Space, and Napoleon Dynamite. He is especially recognized for his voice acting. Early Life
Diedrich Bader was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on Christmas Eve in 1966. His mother, Gretta Bader, was a talented sculptor who created art. His father, William B. Bader, was a leader in a foundation and worked to support political causes. Diedrich's great-grandfather, Edward L. Bader, was even the mayor of Atlantic City, New Jersey. His family has roots in Germany and Scotland.
When Diedrich was two years old, his family moved to Paris, France. Later, he came back to the U.S. and went to Groveton High School. He finished high school at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria. After that, he studied at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
His Acting Career
Diedrich Bader started his acting journey with small parts in popular TV shows. These included The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Quantum Leap, and Cheers. His first big role was in the 1993 show Danger Theatre, where he played a character called The Searcher.
He then moved into movies, appearing in The Beverly Hillbillies in 1993. In 1995, he returned to TV as Oswald in The Drew Carey Show, a role he played for many years. You might also remember him as Lawrence, Peter's neighbor, in the 1999 movie Office Space. In 2004, he played Rex, the owner of a Taekwondo gym, in Napoleon Dynamite. He also appeared as a thief in the movie Eurotrip that same year. Later, in 2010, he took on the role of Charlie in the TV series Outsourced.
