The Secret Saturdays is an American animated TV show made by Canadian cartoonist Jay Stephens for Cartoon Network. It first aired on October 3, 2008. The show is about the Saturday family, who are cryptozoologists. This means they study and protect mysterious creatures called cryptids.
The Saturdays travel the world to find and study cryptids. They also fight bad guys like V.V. Argost, who wants to use the cryptids for his own plans. The show was inspired by 1960s action cartoons and Jay Stephens' interest in cryptozoology. The series ended on January 30, 2010. Reruns were shown on Boomerang from 2011 to 2014.
The Secret Saturdays was the first original Cartoon Network show to be shown in high-definition. The Saturday family also appeared in an episode of Ben 10: Omniverse called "T.G.I.S." In this episode, they teamed up with Ben Tennyson to stop Dr. Animo. This episode showed that The Secret Saturdays and Ben 10 happen in the same world.

Meet the Saturday Family
The show focuses on the Saturday family. This family includes the parents, Doc and Drew Saturday, and their 11-year-old son, Zak Saturday. They are all cryptozoologists. They are also part of a group called the Secret Scientists. This group studies and protects dangerous scientific discoveries.
The Saturdays are experts on cryptids. They are in charge of studying and protecting these creatures worldwide. They also keep the cryptids' existence a secret from most people. The family travels in their airship with their cryptid friends: Fiskerton, Komodo, and Zon. Young Zak Saturday helps his parents on their missions. He also tries to learn how to use his special power. Zak can influence and control cryptids.
The Kur Stone and New Enemies
At the start of the series, V.V. Argost attacks the Secret Scientists. Argost is the host of a TV show called V.V. Argost's Weird World. He is also a long-time enemy of the Secret Scientists. Argost and his helpers steal parts of the Kur Stone. This ancient stone can lead its owner to a powerful cryptid named Kur.
In the first season, the Saturdays also face a bounty hunter named Leonidas Van Rook. Van Rook's helper is later found to be Drew's long-lost brother, Doyle Blackwell. Doyle was separated from Drew after their parents died in an accident. The Saturdays also find a special mirror. This mirror leads to a world made of antimatter. In this world, they meet evil versions of themselves, who Zak calls the "Mondays."
At the end of the first season, the Saturdays and Argost race to find Kur. They discover that Kur is actually Zak! Years ago, when the Kur Stone broke, Kur's soul entered Zak's body before he was born. This is how Zak got his cryptid-controlling powers.
Zak's Powers and the Final Battle
In the second season, Argost becomes interested in Zak. He tries to teach Zak how to use his powers. Meanwhile, the Secret Scientists turn against the Saturdays. They want to capture Zak and put him to sleep. They believe this will stop him from becoming a threat.
Doyle and a now-good Van Rook investigate V.V. Argost's past. They find out that Argost is actually a cryptid himself, a yeti. They also learn that Argost killed Drew and Doyle's parents many years ago. Argost captures Zak and reveals he is the yeti. He then uses the mirror to bring Zak Monday from the antimatter world. Argost steals Zak Monday's powers, giving him the same abilities as Zak.
Argost and Zak then start a global cryptid war using their Kur powers. But Zak eventually defeats Argost, forcing him to run away. After killing Van Rook, Argost captures Zak again. He tries to take Zak's powers along with Zak Monday's. However, mixing matter and antimatter destroys Argost. The power of Kur is also gone forever.
