Phil Morris (born April 4, 1959) is an American actor who has appeared in many movies and TV shows. He is famous for playing the superhero Martian Manhunter in the TV series Smallville and the tough lawyer Jackie Chiles in Seinfeld. He also played Silas Stone in the superhero show Doom Patrol.

Many people also know him as a voice actor. He voiced the kind Dr. Sweet in Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire and the adventurous Doc Saturday in The Secret Saturdays.

Early Life and Family

Phil Morris was born in Iowa City, Iowa. His father was the famous actor Greg Morris, who starred in the classic TV show Mission: Impossible. His sister, Iona Morris, is also an actress. Growing up in an acting family helped him start his own career. He also practices the martial art of Wing Chun.

Acting Career

Phil Morris has had a long and successful career in both live-action and voice acting. He started acting when he was just a child.

First Steps in Acting

Morris's very first role was in a 1966 episode of the original Star Trek called "Miri". At the time, Star Trek was filmed at the same studio where his father was working on Mission: Impossible.

Later, he appeared in the movie Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. He also had guest roles on other Star Trek shows like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

Famous Television Roles

In the 1980s, Morris joined the cast of the TV show The Young and the Restless. He also starred in the 1988 version of Mission: Impossible. In the show, he played Grant Collier, the son of the character his real-life father had played in the original series.

One of his most memorable roles was on the comedy show Seinfeld. He played Jackie Chiles, a fast-talking lawyer inspired by the real-life lawyer Johnnie Cochran.

From 2006 to 2010, he played the DC Comics superhero Martian Manhunter on the popular show Smallville. He appeared in 11 episodes, helping a young Superman. In 2019, he returned to the world of DC Comics to play Dr. Silas Stone, the father of the superhero Cyborg, in the series Doom Patrol.
