Story of the Sasquatch

The movie begins with Ranger Steve (John Rhys-Davies) sitting by a campfire. He starts telling a story about a family called the Davises.

The Davis Family Arrives

John Davis (William Hurt) flies his water plane over a place called Sasquatch Valley. His two daughters, Khristy and Maggie, are with him. Khristy tells Maggie that "Sasquatch" is another name for Bigfoot. Maggie wonders if any Bigfoot creatures live in the valley. Khristy says Bigfoot is just a myth.

They finally arrive at their new home. The house is full of pine cones! They spend the day cleaning everything up. That night, everyone goes to bed. Maggie then hears a noise from the shed outside. She goes to check and finds a small Bigfoot inside! Maggie trips and falls, and the little Bigfoot runs away.

A New Job and a New Friend

The next morning, John, Maggie, and Khristy go to John's new job. They meet Dave (Joe Alaskey), who is the boss there. A new dam is going to be built on a river. This dam will create power for the area.

Meanwhile, a man named Cletus McNabb and his dog, Dawg, want to catch a Bigfoot. That night, Maggie goes outside again. She wants to find the Bigfoot. She finds him again and chases him deep into the forest. Maggie loses sight of him, and it starts to rain. The little Bigfoot comes back with his mother (June Foray). They take Maggie to a secret cave hidden behind a waterfall. Inside the cave, Maggie learns that the new dam will flood the Bigfoot's home. The Bigfoot then takes Maggie safely back home.

Believing in Bigfoot

The next morning, Maggie tries to tell John and Khristy about the Bigfoot. But they do not believe her. After John leaves for work, Maggie and Khristy meet Ranger Steve. He says John asked him to check on them. After Ranger Steve leaves, Maggie tries again to convince Khristy that Bigfoot is real. Khristy still does not believe her.

Maggie gets upset and runs off to find the Bigfoot family. Khristy follows her. They finally reach the secret cave. Cletus McNabb and Dawg see them go into the cave. They start making a plan to catch a Bigfoot.

Saving the Sasquatch Home

John goes back to the house and looks everywhere for his daughters. When John goes into the forest, he meets the Bigfoot family. They take him to the cave. Now John knows the Bigfoot creatures are in danger. They all work together to stop the cave from flooding.

They gather all the pine cones in the valley. They grind them into a thick pulp. They take the pulp into the cave and use it to cover the cracks in the cave walls. Now they worry the walls might collapse. So, they decide to move the Bigfoot family. They move them high up into the snowy mountains, to another cave.

Cletus and Dawg go into the old cave to try and catch a Bigfoot. But the cave walls close in, and the cave floods. Cletus and Dawg manage to get out just in time. Up in the mountains, the Davis family says goodbye to the Bigfoot family. At the end of the movie, Dawg gets mad at Cletus. He decides to move in with the Davises instead!
