The Little Mermaid is a fun musical that comes to life on stage. It's based on the famous 1989 Disney animated movie and the classic story by Hans Christian Andersen. The story is about a mermaid who dreams of living in the human world above the sea. She makes a big choice to give up her voice to find true love.
The musical's story was written by Doug Wright. The music was created by Alan Menken. The original songs for the movie were written by Howard Ashman. New songs for the stage show had lyrics by Glenn Slater. Because the story is set underwater, the show uses special designs. These designs help the actors move as if they are swimming.
